Video shows teens vandalizing cars in Pembroke Pines neighborhood

PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. – Pembroke Pines police are looking for a group of teenagers caught on camera vandalizing a man’s cars.

The video shows what Spring Valley neighborhood resident Luis Cordero believes are teens targeting cars and causing thousands of dollars in damage near the intersection of Northwest 166th Avenue and 16th Street.

“(I) noticed that there was a scratch on the car and then we walked around and couldn’t believe that they smashed the glass and scratched up the sides of the vehicle,” Cordero said.

Cordero said the damages were all caused about a week ago, just after 5:30 in the morning on a Saturday.

He said he woke up not long after the perps ran off to find his front window and sunroof shattered.

There were marks all across his hood, on the roof of his car and just about anywhere they wanted to cause damage and they didn’t stop there — they targeted Cordero’s wife’s Mercedes.

“We couldn’t believe it, and then we went around and saw that my wife’s car as well got scratched up,” Cordero said. “I haven’t gotten the estimate yet, but at least the paint job is about 10 grand.”

While Cordero has already filed a report with Pembroke Pines police, his hope is the young men will stop before they find themselves behind bars — or worse, confronted by a homeowner.

“Stop doing these things, go out there and try to do something productive, stop breaking people’s property,” he said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477.
