MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Miami-Dade County Public Schools reached the highest graduation rate ever at 90.3 percent for the 2022-2023 school year, school officials announced Tuesday.
It recently surpassed the state’s highest rate of 88.2 percent for the 2021-2022 school year, according to the Florida Department of Education.

They said this is a significant increase of 2.1 percentage points from the rate of 88.2 percent of the 2021-2022 school year.
“Florida’s graduation rate continues to climb because our educators place a sole focus on academics in the classroom,” said Gov. Ron DeSantis. “Whether Florida students choose a four-year university or non-traditional post-secondary learning, they will have built a strong foundation to set them up for success.”
Additionally, graduation rates for all demographics increased over the past five years.
School officials confirmed Tuesday that there was a 0.9 percentage point increase in graduation rates for economically disadvantaged students, a 1.7 percentage point increase for Black or African American students, and a 0.9 percentage point increase for Hispanic students compared to 2018 and 2019.
In addition, for the second consecutive year, M-DCPS surpassed the overall state graduation rate. Below are some highlights from the data provided by the state:
- M-DCPS achieved an impressive graduation rate, surpassing the state’s overall rate of 88 percent. This commendable achievement was evident across all subgroups, including Hispanic, White, Black, English Language Learners, Students with Disabilities, and Economically Disadvantaged students, surpassing their counterparts statewide.
- Hispanic students saw an increase of 2 percentage points compared to 2021-22, rising from 88.9 percent to 90.9 percent, surpassing the state rate of 86.8 percent.
- Black students experienced a 4 percentage point increase compared to 2021-22, rising from 82.4 percent to 86.4 percent, surpassing the state rate of 83.2 percent.
- The graduation rate for Students with Disabilities increased by 2.1 percentage points compared to 2021-22, rising from 86 percent to 88.1 percent, surpassing the state rate of 85.5 percent.
- Economically Disadvantaged students experienced a 2.7 percentage point increase compared to 2021-22, rising from 86.6 percent to 89.3 percent, surpassing the state rate of 83.8 percent.
- English Language Learners showed a notable growth of 5 percentage points compared to 2021-22, rising from 75.1 percent to 80.1 percent, surpassing the state rate of 76.1 percent.
