BISCAYNE PARK, Fla. – More than a week after a fiery crash rocked a Biscayne Park neighborhood, a third person has succumbed to their injuries.
Authorities said 23-year old Aaron Kamaree Gainer died in the crash when a Kia model electric vehicle crashed on Northeast 119th Street near 5th Avenue on Jan. 15.
First responders rushed 22-year old Trevante Allen to HCA Florida Aventura Hospital in the moments after the crash. He was later pronounced dead by doctors later that day.
Allen and a third man, 28-year-old Julio Campos, were both ejected from the vehicle.
Campos had been clinging to life in critical condition at Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center until word came in Tuesday that he also died of his injuries.
Surveillance images from a nearby home shows a car matching the Kia’s description speeding by with another car following close behind.
Seconds later, tires can be heard screeching, and then the impact is heard as the driver lost control and slammed into a tree.
In the eight days since, much of the wild wreck has been cleaned up but scorch marks from the intense flames still remain.
Not far away, a makeshift memorial was erected to mark the spot where the crash occurred and took the lives of the three young men.
Detectives who were investigating the case asked anyone with information to call Miami-Dade County Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
