Friends, family mourn teen killed outside Plantation Best Buy amid search for shooter

PLANTATION, Fla. – The search continues for the person or persons who opened fire outside a Plantation Best Buy over the weekend, striking four people.

Police said a group of customers leaving the store, located near the intersection of Sunrise Boulevard and Flamingo Road, were targeted in the parking lot shortly after 8 p.m. Saturday. Two people in the group were hit by bullets and two innocent bystanders were also shot.

One of the people in the group, 17-year-old Terrance Farrington, ultimately died from his injuries.

“He will never be able to touch that football. He will never be able to put on that #2 jersey,” said Youth Under Construction youth center Director Delvin King.

The empty classroom chair belonging to Farrington sat with his football jersey, surrounded by his pictures and flowers, a day after his life was cut short.

“That was my dawg since like about two years now,” student Bryce Simeon said. “We was like real close. He always make me laugh, always been there for me, always checking up on me.”

King, who got to know Farrington over the year he attended Youth Under Construction, described him as a student who was outgoing and an athlete who played for the school’s touch football team, and someone well-liked by his classmates, teachers and staff.

“Everybody loved Terrance,” said King. “Terrance was always that student that had to break out in a dance.”

Best Buy released a statement to Local 10 News following the shooting, which read, in part:

“...Nothing is more important than the safety of our customers and employees, and we’re thankful to our store leaders who quickly called the authorities and locked down the store. Our hearts are with the victims and everyone impacted.”

Anyone with information on the shooting is urged to call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
