Broward student arrested after being found with gun on school campus

MIRAMAR, Fla. – Police on Wednesday announced the arrest of a teenage student after they said he was found with a gun while on a school campus.

According to the Miramar Police Department, 18-year-old Kyzaiah Connor was arrested Tuesday after being found with a loaded gun at Henry D. Perry Education Center.

The school is located at 3400 NW 69th Ave. in Miramar.

Authorities said the school’s resource officer was contacted by an anonymous source who informed him that a student on campus had a gun, identifying Connor as the student.

The SRO placed the school on lockdown and searched the student, finding the loaded 9MM handgun tucked in Connor’s waistband, police said.

Officers said Connor was taken to the Broward Main Jail without incident.
