MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – Police arrested a former Miami Shores municipal employee Monday on dozens of criminal charges after investigators said he stole thousands of dollars from the village using official credit cards fraudulently.
According to an arrest report, Gerrod James Bodie, who worked in the village’s parks and recreation department as a children’s after-care and summer camp supervisor, created fraudulent vendor invoices for the majority of the transactions in an effort to cover his tracks.

After working for the village since June 2022, the 40-year-old abruptly resigned in September, police said, and staffers discovered the suspicious transactions shortly thereafter. Authorities said Bodie either used his own village-issued cards, or those assigned to other parks and recreation employees.
Miami Shores police listed 22 instances of fraud in Bodie’s arrest report, 21 of which involved charges to Square debit accounts controlled by Bodie. In another instance, authorities said Bodie paid for airline ticket on his village credit card to attend a conference in Orlando — despite already having been issued a city check to cover expenses.
The fraudulent transactions totaled nearly $17,500, the arrest report states.
Authorities arrested Bodie on “related” charges of grand theft and credit card fraud on Sept. 12 and was out on felony bond in that case when they arrested him again on Tuesday.
Bodie, whose residence is listed in his arrest report as an apartment on the Florida International University campus, added nine counts of third-degree grand theft, 17 counts of official misconduct, 22 counts of credit card fraud, plus 13 misdemeanor counts of petit theft to those original charges.
His bond was listed in Miami-Dade jail records as $6,500 as of Tuesday afternoon.
