911 calls released after construction worker finds dead baby in dumpster

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – No arrests have been made related to a baby that was found dead in a dumpster on a Hollywood construction site on Monday morning.

The child was found dead inside of a plastic bag inside a large blue dumpster. On Tuesday, authorities released 911 calls for help.

One caller stated: “We have found a child in a dumpster. And it was…child, a kid, a human.”

The man calling said one of his workers found the baby in a blue plastic bag.

Local 10 News spoke to David Vasquez, the worker who made the grim discovery, in Spanish.

He said the baby was dead and looked as if the child had just been born. A foul smell prompted him to look in the plastic bag.

Hollywood police are investigating what lead up to the child’s death and who put the baby there. Very few details have been released.

Vasquez and the 911 caller said they could not tell what gender the baby was.

Neighbors in the area watched on in horror as police investigated.

“It’s unbelievable,” said resident Roger Cote. “If people don’t want a baby they could have gave it up to the firemen and or leave it at the hospital.”

Nearby business owners have looked through their surveillance cameras and say none were pointed in the direction of the dumpster.

Local 10 News has reached out to Hollywood police to find out when an autopsy will be completed.

In the meantime, officers are asking anyone with information to reach out to Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
