WESTON, Fla. – Deputies in Broward County surrounded a community following reports of gunfire.
It happened on Sunday morning along Opal Creek Drive inside the Opal Creek development in Weston.
Neighbors told Local 10 News’ Bridgette Matter a man armed with a gun was shot by deputies.
Cellphone video obtained by Local 10 showed deputies trying to negotiate with the man, who did not appear to be cooperating.
Deputies can be heard telling him to get out of the car and leave the gun behind.
According to neighbors, at one point the man held a gun to his head before he rammed a Broward Sheriff’s Office patrol car and drove off, after which they heard the sound of multiple gunshots.
Authorities have yet to provide any information on what led up to the shooting.
