‘The View’ host on DeSantis: ‘Drag queens survived and his campaign is dead’

Ana Navarro celebrates her birthday with Miami’s R House Wynwood drag brunch stars

A group of drag queens from Miami traveled to the ABC studio in New York City to celebrate Ana Navarro’s birthday on Friday while live on national television.

During “The View,” the stars of the R House Wynwood drag brunch Athena Dion, Tayanna Love, Kat Wilderness, T.lo Ivy, and Juicy Love presented Navarro with the “Godmother of R House” plaque.

Navarro said that after Gov. Ron DeSantis tried to shut the R House down for over a year, the performers were under attack and were terrorized.

“They have spent a fortune in legal fees, and so you know what? The drag queens survived and his campaign is dead,” Navarro said about a $10,000 settlement with the state.

DeSantis, who is campaigning to become the Republican party’s next presidential candidate behind former President Donald Trump, criticized the drag shows at the R House as abusive to kids.

The Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation accused a performer of wearing revealing clothes in front of a girl who was 3-5 years old.

“He has really come for drag shows and LGBTQ+ communities,” Navarro’s co-host Sara Haines said.

Last year, activists criticized DeSantis for “enacting a record six expressly anti-LGBTQ+ bills into law,” which was more than the last seven years combined.

Advocates protested against HB 1069, which limited public school instruction on sexual orientation or gender identity, and criticized SB 254 as “an extreme gender-affirming care” ban, and HB 1521 as “an anti-trans bathroom bill.”

Navarro’s co-host Joy Behar joked: “Do you think that maybe DeSantis secretly wants to get dressed up in ladies’ clothes? Is that possible?”
