MIAMI – The “Nuestra Señora de la Santa Muerte” worshippers are putting themselves at risk, the International Association of Exorcists warned.
The association based in Italy published a Mexican Catholic priest’s report of a “significant increase in the extraordinary action of the devil,” which includes a rise in crimes such as murders.

Devotees who seek miracles have been the victims of “numerous cases of oppression, obsession, and demonic possession, according to Rev. Andrés López, who is a member of the College of Exorcists of the Primatial Archdiocese of Mexico.
López described the skeletal “Santa Muerte,” also known as “Holy Death” or the “Angel of Death,” as a growing cult or sect that is a fusion of Brazilian quimbanda, Cuban Santeria, and occult satanism. He also associated it with organized crime such as robberies and narco-trafficking.
