MIAMI – A “friend of a friend” apparently turned out to be a Miami man’s enemy, bringing three other men to rob him at gunpoint at his apartment along Biscayne Bay, according to police.
Police said they arrested Alejandro Lara, 21, of southwest Miami-Dade, on Wednesday in connection with the robbery, which happened just after midnight Friday.

Authorities didn’t name the three alleged accomplices in an arrest report, so it’s unclear if they’ve been identified or arrested.
According to police, Lara — the victim’s “friend of a friend” — and three others drove into The Grand condominiums, located at 1717 N. Bayshore Drive in the Omni neighborhood, and went up to the man’s apartment to rob him.
The arrest report states the man left his apartment door “unlocked and partially open” and heard a noise outside. Police said he saw the four men, armed with guns, pushing the door open and entering the apartment.
The quartet started to take the victim’s designer clothing, jewelry, hat and glasses, along with $25,000 in cash while aiming their guns at him, police said.
Authorities said the victim recognized Lara, whom he knew as “Alec.” Police located him Wednesday.
Lara, who lives in the Kendall area, faces a charge of armed home invasion and was being held without bond in the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center as of Thursday.
