Detectives identify 18-year-old victim of Miami shooting, show video of 3 ‘persons of interest’

Detectives ask for help identifying trio after murder in the Little Haiti

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Antwan Hampton would have turned 19 in February, but a shooting in Miami killed him about five days before Christmas, police said.

Police officers found him lying on the front lawn at 6847 NW 2 Court, after receiving a Shot Spotter alert at about 9 p.m., on Dec. 20, in the Little Haiti neighborhood’s Little River area, according to the Miami Police Department.

Hampton died about two hours later at Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center, according to Officer Michael Vega, a spokesman for MPD.

On Thursday morning, detectives released a video recorded on a Miami-Dade County bus and they asked the public to help them find three males.

One was wearing a black RLG hooded sweater, dark pants, and black and white sneakers. Another wore a black long-sleeve shirt, light jeans, black socks, and black sandals. The other wore a red hooded sweater, black and white sweatpants, white socks, and black sandals.

“Any little tip that can help us will help this family,” said a Miami police officer. “The mother is grieving, and we don’t know why they did it or why they would shoot this young man and leave him for dead.”

Detectives asked anyone with information to call 305-603-6350 or Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305- 471-4877. There is a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in the case.
