Spicy sabotage? Miami police seek hot-sauce-wielding vandal

He also used rocks to damage windows, business owners say

MIAMI – Police in Miami are looking for a suspected vandal with a strange M.O. — his tools of choice are rocks and hot sauce.

A building owner along Coral Way, near Southwest 14th Avenue, said the man showed up on Christmas Eve, shattered the building’s front door and several windows, then poured hot sauce all over the doors.

The same thing happened at a neighboring Spanish restaurant, Meson Ria de Vigo. He even threw the hot sauce through the window and left both it and the rock behind.

“Nothing is going to stop us,” restaurant employee Fayez Tanous said. “If they keep wanting to break our windows, we will keep fixing them and we will serve the community.”

The restaurant has been hit by graffiti before.

In total, three businesses, along with two bus stops, were hit by the rock-throwing, hot-sauce-pouring vandal.

A nearby business owner said he recognized the man as someone who sleeps in the area.

Police haven’t announced any arrests yet.
