MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Police say a Miami Gardens couple got a knock on the door Christmas night. It wasn’t a family member or a caroler, they say, but an armed home invader.
Hiram Tanco Crispin would force a husband and wife into a back room at gunpoint, bind them with electrical cords and take a bag of money, an arrest report states.

But police say Crispin’s demand for more cash would be his undoing.
According to police, Crispin, 57, would knock on the door of the home on Northwest 175th Street at around 8 p.m.
After tying the couple up, Crispin would rummage around the house until he found a bag of money, according to police. The report doesn’t state if or how he knew the victims — or of the cash-filled bag.
Police said Crispin came back to the room, pointed a gun at the woman and threatened to harm her if her husband didn’t tell him where the rest of the money was.
The victim told Crispin was the rest of the money was in his van outside and he would lead him to it — once he untied him, the report states.
Police said Crispin obliged and the victim went for the suspect’s gun, disarming him and pinning him on the front porch until police arrived.
Officers arrested Crispin, who lives in the West Perrine area of southwest Miami-Dade, on charges of armed home invasion and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Miami-Dade jail records initially listed Crispin’s bond as $15,000 on Tuesday afternoon, but were later updated to note that a judge ordered he remain held without bond.
