HIALEAH, Fla. – Medics airlifted a driver to a local hospital after a shooting on the Palmetto Expressway in Miami-Dade County early on Christmas morning.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the shooting happed just after midnight in the northbound lanes of the highway, near Okeechobee Road.

An FHP spokesperson said an “unknown vehicle” pulled up beside the victim, who was driving a Mercedes-Benz SUV, and unleashed a series of shots, hitting the victim in the right leg and leaving several holes in the vehicle.
Troopers applied a tourniquet to the man’s leg until medics airlifted him, according to FHP.
