Miami fisherman finds human body in Biscayne Bay shallow water

MIAMI – A Miami fisherman said he felt terrible when he found a human body early Friday morning in shallow water in Biscayne Bay.

The fisherman was on the Old Rickenbacker Causeway, now a public pier south of the causeway that goes over the bay and connects Miami’s Brickell with Virginia Key.

The fishermen were on the pier at about 6:45 a.m. when they saw what they thought was a dead woman or teenage girl floating face down near a light pole labeled with the number 13.

Police officers placed the body in the back of a boat and to a dock near the Miami Seaquarium. Miami-Dade Police Department vehicles waited near the Hobie Island Beach Park.

Detectives were asking anyone with information about the case to call Miami-Dade County Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
