Police: Garbage man working in southwest Miami-Dade finds body in trash can

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Authorities are investigating after a body was found in southwest Miami-Dade County.

The scene was located near Southwest 85th Street and 161st Place in West Kendall.

According to police, a garbage man discovered the body after dumping a can into the back of his truck.

Homicide detectives with the Miami-Dade Police Department were called to investigate.

Authorities said they believe the person died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The last time the trash was picked up in the neighborhood was Friday, and police said they are working to determine the exact time of death.
