‘I do believe it’s a miracle’: Teen recovering after hit-and-run in Hallandale Beach

Police continue search for driver who struck teen, kept going

HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. – Authorities in Broward County are still searching for a hit-and-run driver who struck a teenager and did not stop.

“I do believe it’s a miracle. I probably wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for God,” said 16-year-old Tyland Jackson. “I just seen a car. I woke up and the police and everyone was surrounding me.”

It happened on Dec. 11 near Northwest 8th Avenue and Foster Road as Jackson, a sophomore and football player at Hallandale Beach High School, was walking to a nearby convenience store after school.

“He dragged me,” the teen said.

Witnesses described the car as an older model black Toyota Corolla.

Jackson’s mother is full of gratitude after nearly losing her son.

“I could have planning your funeral, and I will make sure I do everything in my power that you are fully healed and we get justice,” Antoneisha Stanley told her son.

Jackson still suffers from fractured bones and other injuries, with a long road to recovery ahead.

He and his family hope the person responsible will come forward.

Anyone with information is urged to call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477.
