Man faces charges of false report of a bomb after deputies evacuate FLL Terminal 1 upper level

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Hours after deputies evacuated an area of the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, a man appeared in Broward County court facing charges over a false airport threat.

Broward Sheriff’s Office started to evacuate the upper level of FLL’s Terminal 1 at about 5:25 p.m., on Sunday, and cleared the area at about 8:45 p.m. at 50 Terminal Drive, according to BSO.

Deputies reported detaining a man during the investigation at FLL. BSO inmate records show deputies at an airport arrested Tyler Baeder on Sunday and held him at the North Broward Bureau.

On Monday morning, Baeder, 27, appeared in Broward County bond court facing charges of false report of a bomb and resisting arrest without violence. Deputies were holding him without bond, records show.

At about 9:20 p.m., BSO deputies had yet to publicly confirm if Baeder was the man deputies detained on Sunday at FLL.

Detectives were asking anyone with information about the case to call Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477.

This is a developing story. Local 10 News has a pending request for Baeder’s arrest form. Local 10 News Photojournalist Wade Hughes contributed to this report.
