Teen suspect in custody, store clerk shot multiple times during Pembroke Pines attempted robbery

PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. – Police in Pembroke Pines are investigating a shooting.

It happened Tuesday at a convenience store off University Drive near Sheridan Street.

Police said a store clerk was shot multiple times while trying to run away during an attempted robbery.

A 13-year-old male suspect was taken into custody and is now facing a charge of attempted homicide, illegal possession of a firearm by a minor and armed robbery according to police.

Police said the underage suspect did not get away with any merchandise and was found with a gun.

The victim is expected to make a full recovery, authorities said.

Police said the suspect had a previous warrant out for his arrest for an unrelated armed robbery incident that also occurred in Pembroke Pines.

The suspect’s identity has not been released. Police said he was transported to the juvenile intake facility.
