Hialeah police officers said they were dispatched to a home around 3:45 p.m. Tuesday near the 660 block of West 14th Street for a domestic violence-related incident.

The victim, who is seven months pregnant, told detectives that she and Hernandez began arguing about their relationship when he grabbed her by the neck and pushed her, according to his arrest report.

As the victim tried to leave the apartment, Cruz-Hernandez once again grabbed her by the neck and arm, at which time she said she was going to call 911, the report stated.

Shortly after the tussle, police said Cruz-Hernandez fled the scene in a black Chevy SUV.

After conducting a records check on the victim and Cruz-Hernandez, investigators confirmed that police responded to a previous call of a domestic simple battery incident that occurred on March 18, 2022, which involved both parties.

Cruz-Hernandez’s arrest report states that he admitted to the incident after being interviewed at the Hialeah Police Department’s main station.

As of Wednesday, he was being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center where his bond was set at $9,000.
