Former Miami school security guard accused of slapping student’s buttocks faces more charges

MIAMI – A former security guard at a high school in Miami was arrested Monday for a second time on accusations made by a student.

Daijion Jones, 22, was initially arrested Dec. 5 after police said surveillance video showed him slapping a girl’s buttocks as she walked down a hallway at Miami Northwestern Senior High School. He was also accused of asking another student if he could perform oral sex on her.

According to his most recent arrest report, Jones placed his hands on another student’s buttocks last week after calling out her name and telling her to come back downstairs.

Miami-Dade Schools Police said Jones asked the girl where she was going and she said, “to class.”

As she was about to leave, Jones reached around her for a hug and then placed his hand on her buttocks over her pants, the victim told police.

Police said the student’s accusations were verified through a search of the surveillance video from the area.

Police said Jones was taken into custody Tuesday and invoked his right not to speak with detectives.

He was arrested on charges of offenses against students by authority figures, battery and indecent/lewd and lascivious touching of a minor.

The school district released a statement last week, confirming that Jones would be fired.

“Miami-Dade County Public Schools is deeply troubled by the disturbing allegations made against this individual,” the statement read. “Upon learning about this suspected behavior, Miami-Dade Schools Police immediately began their investigation and subsequently made an arrest. This type of behavior will not be tolerated as it runs contrary to the professional conduct we expect from all employees. The District has initiated employment termination proceedings and will ensure the individual is precluded from seeking future employment with the District.”
