MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – The Florida Department of Education released the 2022-23 grades for the state’s 67 public school districts as part of the new progress monitoring system.
Miami-Dade County Public Schools was among the 16 districts that got an “A” grade. The school districts in Broward and Monroe counties got a “B” grade.
Miami-Dade Superintendent Jose Dotres said the district was among the top 10 in the state because of successes in proficiency.
“Of all the large school districts in the state of Florida, Miami-Dade County Public Schools is the only large school district rated A,” Dotres said during a celebratory news conference.
Broward did not hold a news conference.
Earlier this year, Manny Diaz, Jr., the state’s commissioner of education, said the progress monitoring was “a success” and was set to establish “a true annual comparison beginning next year.”
