FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – A South Florida man’s family is desperate for answers nearly a year after their loved one was shot and killed in Fort Lauderdale.
The gunman hasn’t been found and they’re now doing everything they can to bring awareness back to the case.
Jason Marous’ mother, father, along with family and friends were back at the scene of his murder as their quest to find the person that shot and killed him in January continues.
It was in the morning hours of Jan. 6th when Marous was found dead inside his SUV parked outside of his apartment in the 800 block of Northeast 14th Place.
His mother said he died from a shot to the neck.
Since then, family members have been paving their own path in search of answers, traveling down from Ohio in search of the person that murdered one of their own.
“You’re sort of numb when you do this and you try to act like everything is okay because everyone else moves on, you don’t,” said Debbie Lawrence, Marous’ mother. “I just don’t want him to think I’m not trying.”
In February, Fort Lauderdale police released video captured that was captured at 1:30 a.m. when Marous was shot.
Since then, police have been searching for a man seen in the video, who they consider a person of interest.
There is a $50,000 reward being offered for information that leads to the arrest of whoever pulled the trigger.
Anyone with information is urged to call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
