Man critical after argument leads to shooting in Westchester, Miami-Dade police say

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Police took a suspect into custody after they said he shot and critically wounded a man in southwest Miami-Dade’s Westchester area Saturday afternoon.

The shooting happened sometime after 4:15 p.m. at 9375 SW 40th St., Miami-Dade police Detective Alvaro Zabaleta, a department spokesperson, said.

Police said some sort of argument broke out, leading to gunfire. Authorities didn’t say what the argument was about or immediately release the suspect’s name.

Zabaleta said medics took the victim to HCA Florida Kendall Hospital; authorities didn’t provide an update on his condition as of Saturday evening.

Zabaleta said detectives were still investigating as of Saturday evening.
