‘Mean and evil’ Grinch duo steals single mother’s Christmas in Broward, victim says

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – The Grinch’s helpers are at it again in Broward County.

Police officers are searching for the two women who are now known as The Hollywood Grinch duo who stole a single mother’s Christmas.

Surveillance video shows one of them picking up a box that didn’t belong to her and skipping away to a U-Haul truck.

“To see how something so mean and evil could make someone happy” was enraging, Ivana Jocic, one of the victims in Hollywood, said.

Videos show the women searching for other victims in Jocic’s neighborhood off West Park Road and Sheridan Street.

A single mother lost three of the gifts she had ordered for her kids this Christmas.

Detectives were asking anyone with information about the case to call Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477.

Porch pirates stole about 260 million packages around the country valued at about $19.5 billion in 2022, according to a report by SafeWise security. With more online shopping, the number is set to increase this year.

Here is a list of measures against porch pirates:

  • Have your packages delivered to Amazon lockers.
  • Get a porch lock box
  • Require a signature with a delivery
  • Sign up for package tracking and use it to limit the time between delivery and retrieval
  • Get a video doorbell with two-way audio, a motion sensor, and a notification system — and make it visible
