Police said after arriving to the destination, Charles began to punch the victim in the head, arm and stomach.

The woman told police that she quickly got out of her car to avoid being hit further, at which time Charles got out through the rear passenger door and ran around to get in the driver’s seat.

The woman said he then fled the scene in her white 2017 Toyota Corolla.

According to the arrest report, detectives submitted a subpoena to Lyft Thursday to retrieve the victim’s records for the date and time the incident occurred.

Police were then able to obtain Charles’ phone number and account information, leading to his arrest.

According to the report, the victim went to the police station Thursday and identified Charles in a photo lineup.

Police then responded to his home to arrest him and found the victim’s car parked just a block away, authorities said.

Police said it was towed to the North Miami Police Department for processing and Charles was taken into custody.

According to the report, Charles denied taking a Lyft that day and denied having any involvement in the carjacking.

He was arrested on one count of robbery/carjacking.

As of Friday afternoon, he remained held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in lieu of a $10,000 bond.
