Video from Sky 10 showed the silver sedan and wrecked motorcycle in the eastbound lanes of the road, at a left-turn-only intersection with an access road for a Walmart Supercenter, various fast food restaurants and an industrial area.

The 45-year-old motorcyclist, Francisco Jose Lluberes, of Pompano Beach, was riding a 2023 Suzuki GSXR-600 eastbound on West Atlantic Boulevard, according to a preliminary on-scene investigation by the Broward Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide Unit. Paul Adwar, 64, of Discovery Bay, Calif., was the driver of a 2023 Nissan Sentra traveling westbound on West Atlantic Boulevard and was attempting to turn left at the intersection when the crash happened.

As Adwar’s car entered the path of Lluberes’ motorcycle, the bike hit the Sentra in a “T-bone” type collision.

Lluberes was pronounced dead at the scene. Adwar and passenger, Sharon Adwar, 70, of Discovery Bay, Calif., were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators have not released who was at fault and say the crash remains under investigation.
