Police search for gunman who opened fire during Hialeah road rage incident

HIALEAH, Fla. – Police in Hialeah are searching for a suspect who opened fire on another driver in what authorities believe was a fit of road rage.

The incident, which took place on Tuesday near the intersection of West 12th Avenue and 53rd Street, was caught on surveillance video.

In the footage, one vehicle appears to be pursuing the other when a passenger in one of the cars starts shooting.

Fortunately, no innocent bystanders were injured.

That passenger could be seen hanging out of the window of a black car, opening fire on the vehicle in front of him. The driver of the car then swerves onto a sidewalk in an attempt to get away, all while the gunman continued shooting.

Resident Duval Almeida told Local 10 News’ Roy Ramos he first thought the two cars were racing, but just as they passed him he saw someone pointing a gun outside the car.

Almeida said he heard between five and six shots.

One vehicle that was not involved in the incident was struck by a stray bullet, but the driver was not injured.

Officers are actively searching for the persons involved in the road rage incident.

Anyone with information is urged to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
