MIAMI SPRINGS, Fla. – A man and a woman were arrested this week after they stole over $200 worth of meat from a Miami Springs supermarket, and then fled the scene on a stolen motorcycle, authorities said.
The theft was reported around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Milam’s Market, located at 80 Curtiss Parkway.

According to their arrest reports, surveillance video shows Miguel Alejandro Monte Jovega, 26, of Hialeah, walking into the supermarket and heading toward the meat section.
Miami Springs police said he was seen putting several packages of meat into a shopping basket and then walking past the register area, not paying for the meat and exiting the store.
Police said Amalia Gomez Alvarez, 34, was waiting for him on a motorcycle outside the business and placed several packages of the meat in her bag and several in Monte Jovega’s bag.
According to the reports, the couple was confronted by the store manager who ordered them to return the meat, but they rode off on the motorcycle.
The arrest reports list the meat taken as two packs of top sirloin prime, six packs of flap meat and two packs of grass fed skirt steak. The meat totaled $265.37.
According to police, Monte Jovega and Gomez Alvarez were identified in the surveillance video and officers tracked them down to an apartment where the motorcycle was parked outside of.
Police said the couple moved the motorcycle inside the home and closed the front door of the apartment as officers were trying to detain them.
The officers ordered the couple to come outside but they would not come out, the reports state.
Police said a person who lives at the apartment arrived shortly after and gave officers permission to enter the apartment, where the two suspects were ultimately detained.
According to the arrest reports, a records check on the motorcycle revealed that it had been reported stolen to the Miami-Dade Police Department.
Police said the motorcycle’s ignition was bypassed in order to operate without a key.
Both suspects face charges of grand theft of a vehicle, retail theft and resisting an officer without violence.
Monte Jovega also faces a charge of petit theft from a merchant. Police said Gomez Alvarez was out on felony bond at the time of her arrest.
As of Friday morning, both remained held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
