Police: Lyft driver carjacked, beaten by passenger in North Miami

NORTH MIAMI, Fla. – A Lyft driver was carjacked by a passenger while finishing up a ride in North Miami on Thursday.

North Miami police officers responded to reports of a robbery at 12202 Griffing Blvd. just after 5 p.m. received the 911 call from the driver.

The female Lyft driver told police the carjacker was her male passenger and that at the end of the ride, the rider punched her and then pulled her from the car then left the scene in her white Toyota Corolla.

In Spanish she said that the passenger “punched her, he grabbed her from the backseat, pulled her out of the car and then left in the car.”

The victim said the carjacker fled in her vehicle onto West Dixie Highway.

The driver gave police ride-sharing app information about her passenger hoping that it would lead to them finding the person who hit her and took her car.

She showed marks on her neck where she said she was hit and said she was afraid for her life.

She’s hoping that cameras on the building of a community center where she stopped to let the passenger out captured some of the chaos.

Police are now looking for the white Toyota Corolla and are asking anyone with information to call 305-891-0294.
