HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – A Walmart location in Hollywood remained closed Monday, two days after a suspected case of arson inside the store.
It happened at around 4:50 p.m. at the chain’s store at 301 S. State Road 7, just south of Hollywood Boulevard. Police evacuated the store after the fire broke out.
Shoppers said Monday that they were inconvenienced by the closure.
“It was bigger than I thought,” shopper Patrick Weir said.
Authorities took Dionel Capellan, 46, into custody on an arson charge.
He appeared in court over the weekend and was combative.
“I don’t care that he has his middle fingers up,” the judge said. “It doesn’t bother me at all.”
“I’m gonna kill,” Capellan said in court, as a judge told him she felt he was a danger to the community.
She ordered he remain in jail pending a mental health screening.
Officials said no one was hurt in the fire. The state fire marshal’s office continued its investigation Monday.
