MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The Miami Dolphins added a new weapon to their receiving core Friday morning.
The team announced that they’ve sent the Chicago Bears a 2025 6th-round draft pick to acquire wide receiver Chase Claypool.

Miami also acquired Chicago’s 2025 7th-round pick in the deal.
The trade for Claypool comes after he was a healthy scratch for Chicago in Weeks 4 and 5.
The wide receiver had been away from the team all week leading up to the Bears’ Thursday night win, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
The Bears acquired Claypool last season via a midseason trade from Pittsburgh, sending back a second-round pick (No. 32).
Through four seasons with Pittsburgh and Chicago, Claypool has recorded 171 catches for 2,235 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns in 49 games.
Claypool joins a receiving core that already has Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, Braxton Berrios, River Cracraft and Erik Ezukanma.
Miami has not announced the release of any of their players following the Claypool trade as of 11 a.m. Friday.
Shortly after the trade was announced, Hill made a post on X that said, “Chase Claypool I like it.”
Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel said the team wasn’t necessarily looking for receiver help but thought Claypool, who is the type of fast player that McDaniel likes, could make them better.
“For us it felt like a situation where there might be a role to carve out for him,” McDaniel said at a press conference Friday. “For the player, you have a guy that wants to take things into his own hands and have the opportunity to be on a team.”
The Dolphins will look to improve to 4-1 on the season as they host the New York Giants on Sunday at 1 p.m.
