Man in custody after SWAT standoff in Davie

DAVIE, Fla. – A man is in custody after a SWAT standoff Thursday afternoon in Davie.

Police say the man, who was wanted on multiple warrants, barricaded himself inside a white car, refusing to come out.

A SWAT truck and another vehicle blocked him in.

Officers were seen with their guns drawn in the parking lot of a community off Pine Ridge Road and Orange Grove Drive.

“The cop was saying, ‘Everybody in the house, stay inside, further inside, because if there might be a crossfire, then you might get hit.’ My aunt and I were praying, just to keep everything safe and stuff,” Rosalie Co, who was in the area at the time, told Local 10 News.

Video taken at the scene shows police blocking in the suspect.

Officers were eventually able to take the man into custody.

It’s unclear what he was wanted for, but neighbors said the man often fought with a woman he lives with and that they’ve had to call police on them in the past.
