BROWARD COUNTY, Fla. – The Broward County Sheriff’s Office wants to remind the public of a drug warning that was issued earlier this year by the FDA.
It is regarding the illegal use of a drug called cyproheptadine, which the FDA said is a powerful antihistamine and appetite stimulant that is often used to change a person’s physical appearance.

The drug is only legal with a prescription, but BSO said it can be found in different products that are sold online and in some stores without the script.
BSO said homicide detectives are currently investigating the August 2022 death of a baby in Oakland Park that was caused by an overdose of cyproheptadine.
According to the FDA, antihistamine overdose can cause disorientation, hallucinations, coma and in some cases death.
