Miami-Dade PD: Teen charged as adult a month after shooting at crowd, striking woman in face

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – A 17-year-old boy is being charged as an adult in connection with a shooting that occurred last month in the West Perrine area of southwest Miami-Dade.

According to Miami-Dade police, the shooting occurred around 4:15 p.m. June 20 outside a home in the 10500 block of Southwest 177th Street.

Adarryl Trevon Wilson, of Miami, was arrested after the shooting and taken to the Juvenile Assessment Center, but he was transferred Thursday to Miami’s Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, where he is being held without bond.

According to his arrest report, Wilson was seen wearing a red hoodie and black mask when he allegedly approached a group of people who were fighting and fired into the crowd.

A 20-year-old woman was shot in the face. She was taken to Jackson South Medical Center before police arrived, and she survived her injuries.

Police said responding officers arrived at the scene to find three structures that had been struck by gunfire along with three vehicles.

A 911 caller reported 27 shots being fired in the area.

According to the arrest report, witnesses told officers that one group was seen walking from a field on the north side of the street while the other group was coming from a home on the south side of the street.

An argument between the two groups escalated into a physical altercation, at which time police said Wilson pointed the gun at the group standing in front of the home and began shooting.

Police said one of the victims shot back, injuring Wilson.

According to the arrest report, Wilson showed up at Jackson South Medical Center and was treated for his injuries.

Police said a 15-year-old girl was struck by fragments of unknown material caused by the gunshots that went into the home.

Wilson was detained by police at the hospital.

He faces charges of attempted murder, aggravated battery while wearing a mask, aggravated assault with a firearm and armed criminal mischief.

Further details about the cause of the fight which led to the shooting were not released.
