Investigation ongoing after teen boy shot in the leg in Fort Lauderdale

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Police are investigating after a teenager was shot Tuesday night in Fort Lauderdale.

According to authorities, officers responded to an apartment complex near Northwest 22nd Street and 26th Avenue after receiving an alert from gunfire detection device.

Once there, first responders found a 17-year-old boy who had been shot in the leg.

The victim was rushed to Broward Health Medical Center as a trauma alert, but his official condition has not yet been released.

Video taken at the scene shows crime scene technicians placing evidence markers on the ground. There was also a car parked nearby that had a shattered side window.

There has been no update from police on a possible suspect or motive.
