Driver ejected from Mini Cooper after it flips multiple times on Palmetto Expressway

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – A man who was driving a black Mini Cooper on the Palmetto Expressway Tuesday morning is in critical condition after his car flipped over several times, authorities said.

The crash occurred around 10 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of the highway near Northwest 17th Avenue.

According to Florida Highway Patrol Lt. Alex Camacho, the Mini Cooper and a white Buick SUV collided, causing the smaller vehicle to flip over several times.

The driver, identified only as a Black adult male, was ejected from the car and landed on the roadway.

He was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center in critical condition.

Camacho said the eastbound lanes of the Palmetto Expressway were shut down for approximately 90 minutes after the collision.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
