MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. ā€“ A 30-year-old man from Miami was arrested Wednesday, five years after he shot a woman who met up with him in southwest Miami-Dade for a marijuana transaction, authorities said.

According to the suspectā€™s arrest report, the shooting occurred the afternoon of July 7, 2018, in the 18000 block of Southwest 357th Street.

Miami-Dade police said Rene Reyna met up with the victim and shot her once in the left shoulder.

He then ā€œforcefullyā€ took her car keys and fled the scene, the arrest report stated.

Police said the victim identified Reyna to detectives in a photo.

According to his arrest report, Reyna was taken into custody Wednesday after visiting a police station, requesting a background check.

After being read his Miranda Rights, Reyna told detectives he ā€œjust wanted to be booked,ā€ the arrest report stated.

He was transported to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on charges of armed robbery and attempted murder.

As of Thursday afternoon, he remained jailed without bond.
