MDPD: 1 dead, 1 hospitalized following 3-vehicle crash in southwest Miami-Dade

Police are investigating a three-vehicle crash in southwest Miami-Dade that left one person dead and another hospitalized Wednesday morning. (WPLG)

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Police are investigating a three-vehicle crash in southwest Miami-Dade that left one person dead and another hospitalized Wednesday morning.

According to Miami-Dade Fire Rescue officials, paramedics responded to a call around 10:30 a.m. after two people were reportedly trapped inside a vehicle following a crash near Southwest 147th Avenue and Southwest 288th Street.

Miami-Dade police confirmed that a passenger in one of the vehicles was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said the driver of the same vehicle was transported to Jackson South Medical Center in stable condition.

The drivers of the other two vehicles were treated at the scene and released, according to police.

Sky 10 flew over the scene around 11:30 a.m. where two cars were spotted with heavy damage to the front and sides of both vehicles.

The Miami-Dade Police Department’s Traffic Homicide Section is investigating the circumstances leading up to the crash.
