DAVIE, Fla. – The Davie Police Department is asking for the public’s help in finding a man that was accused of trying to break into a nail salon on Monday.
Local 10 News spoke with employees of the store who said the man was heard screaming outside and trying to break his way in after not being given money.
“He came in twice in our store and was trying to ask for money, but we didn’t give him anything,” said one employee.
An employee at Davie’s Nails, located at 2219 S. University Dr., said the man first showed up at the business around noon and then again around 6 p.m. when he started asking for money.
After repeatedly denying the man’s request, store employees decided to lock the front doors of the business.
Video surveillance shows the man running up to the locked door and trying to force his way in.
According to witnesses, the man tried to use the other door to get into the salon, but it was already locked.
The video captured the man kicking and trying to shatter the glass of the salon and then trying to break into a neighboring business.
Employees told Local 10 News that the incident scared not only the workers, but the clients inside the business.
“I’m going to run if he came in and I was working with one of my clients and she like, ‘Let’s just run,’” said the female employee.
As the tirade continued, help quickly arrived as a mob of good Samaritans took notice and tried to get the suspect to leave the nail salon.
The employee said that people from a nearby pizza place came out to try to catch him, but the suspect ran away.
Police said the suspect damaged at least three nearby businesses in the area.
Authorities are urging anyone with information about the suspect to call 954-693-8200 or Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477.
