According to investigators, Guzman was attending a family gathering when he told relatives he was meeting some friends and stepped away from their pavilion.

Shortly after, Guzmanā€™s relatives heard gunshots and discovered him unresponsive. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue personnel responded to the park and pronounced Guzman dead at the scene.

ā€œAngelo was visiting his father. At some point, he made it to the park where the incident occurred,ā€ Miami-Dade Police Detective Edhy Mederos told Local 10 News on Sept. 20, 2021. ā€œThere were families in the area that heard the gunshots and responded to that area.ā€

Mederos said Guzman was someone who was going to remembered by everyone who knew him.

ā€œAngelo was just starting his life. His family is going to miss him. His friends are going to miss him. His classmates are going to miss him,ā€ he said.

According to jail records, Garrido Corbea is facing one count each of second-degree murder and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.

He was transported to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, where he was held without bond.

A motive for the shooting remains unclear.
