BSO: Man drowns after falling in Weston canal

WESTON, Fla. ā€“ Authorities are investigating after a man drowned in a Weston canal Tuesday afternoon.

Authorities said someone called 911 around 1:15 p.m. to report an apparent drowning near the 500 block of Racquet Club Road.

According to a Broward Sheriffā€™s Office spokesperson, BSO deputies, Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue and BSOā€™s Dive Team responded to the scene and immediately began lifesaving measures on a man who had fallen into the canal.

Deputies said paramedics transported the man to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

A Local 10 News crew was at the scene where a pair of construction boots were found near the canal.

BSOā€™s Homicide and Crime Scene units were investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Authorities have not released information about the victimā€™s age or identity.
