Miami police set up perimeter, searching for burglary suspect

MIAMI – A growing police presence was observed late Monday night along North Miami Avenue in the city of Miami.

Authorities said the situation involved battery on an officer with the Miami Police Department’s Tactical Robbery Unit.

According to police, officers attempted to stop the suspect, who was in a stolen car, and he intentionally hit an unmarked police vehicle before fleeing.

Police said he crashed at North Miami Avenue and 69th Street and then took off on foot.

Officers set up a perimeter between North Miami Avenue and Northwest Second Avenue, from 68th Terrace to 71st Street, as they searched for the suspect.

Police did not say if any officers were injured when the suspect hit the police vehicle.
