Man killed, woman injured in shooting at nightclub in Lauderdale Lakes

LAUDERDALE LAKES, Fla. – The Broward Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that occurred at a nightclub in Lauderdale Lakes.

The shooting was reported around 2:20 a.m. Tuesday at a strip mall near the 4200 block of North State Road 7.

Deputies were seen going in and out of the VYPZ Lounge.

Authorities confirmed that deputies arrived in the area and found a man suffering from gunshot wounds. Paramedics later pronounced him dead at the scene.

Deputies said a woman was also injured in the shooting and was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators taped off the parking lot for several hours Tuesday morning where liquor bottles and other debris were seen scattered along the street.

Detectives later towed away a dark-colored BMW. It’s connection to the scene is still unclear.

Local 10 News reporter Trent Kelly spoke to a woman who was inside the club when the shots rang out.

“The music was loud so you couldn’t really hear anything. I thought the gunshot was fake at first,” she said.

BSO Homicide Unit detectives are investigating the circumstances leading up to the shooting.

Anyone with information is asked to call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
