Deputies rescue girl after Florida Amber alert activation

Detectives believe a man in a Honda abducted a 12-year-old girl on Monday in Duval County. (FDLE)

After The Florida Department of Law Enforcement activated an Amber alert at about 9:30 a.m., on Monday, deputies rescued a 12-year-old girl who they believed had been kidnapped in Duval County.

Detectives detained Jorge Reyes who they suspected was driving a dark Honda with a large rear spoiler when he abducted Fernanda at about 3 a.m., according to the Jacksonville Sheriffā€™s Office.

Deputies told News 4 Jax that they had detained Reyes in the vicinity of the girlā€™s home.

With Fernandaā€™s case solved, Florida still had seven active Amber alerts on Monday. The list includes two unsolved cases out of Miami-Dade County:

  • Andrew Caballeiro, who vanished when he was 7 days old, would be about 3 years old if found alive now. Ernesto Caballeiro was accused of abducting him.
  • Jarkeius Adside, who vanished when he was one year old, would be about 22 years old if found alive now.
