Police: Man arrested for stealing dozens of birds worth more than $10K

LAKE WORTH BEACH, Fla. – A bird bandit on the run in Palm Beach County has been arrested.

Police said 44-year-old Damian Ramallo is facing several felony charges, including armed burglary and grand theft.

According to authorities, Ramallo stole 69 valuable birds from their cages at a home in Lake Worth Beach.

There were 20 cockatoos, 10 baby cockatoos, 20 pigeons, 15 canaries and four parakeets that were stolen, police said.

Surveillance video showed the suspect, who police said is Ramallo, in the act.

Police said the value of the birds is more than $10,000.

Ramallo is expected to go before a judge on Monday.
