Fatal crash on I-95 causes early morning traffic mess near Miami Gardens Drive

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – A deadly crash caused all northbound lanes of Interstate 95 to be shut down Sunday morning in the area near Miami Gardens Drive.

The crash, which happened just before 4 a.m., involved three vehicles, including a blue Jeep that came to a rest on its side.

According to Florida Highway Patrol Lt. Alex Camacho, a black Chevy sedan and a black Tesla sedan were also involved in the wreck.

He said the Jeep overturned several times and one of its occupants, identified only as a Black man, was ejected from the vehicle, coming to rest on the grassy shoulder.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Three other people inside the Jeep were transported to HCA Florida Aventura Hospital. Their conditions have not been released.

Camacho said northbound lanes on I-95 were shut down in the area for about eight hours.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
