FORT MYERS, Fla. – A Florida man won $1 million playing the Mega Millions game and claimed his prize this week, Florida Lottery officials confirmed Thursday.
Hugh Hackney, of Fort Myers, purchased his winning ticket from a Publix in his hometown.

According to Lottery officials, Hackney’s ticket from the Jan 24. drawing matched all five of the white ball numbers drawn but did not match the Mega Ball number.
The business will receive a $1,000 bonus commission for selling the winning ticket.
“Since joining Mega Millions in 2013, the game has generated more than $1 billion for education and has awarded more than $1 billion in prizes,” the Florida Lottery said in a statement.
The next Mega Millions drawing will be held Friday, June 30, at 11 p.m. ET, with an estimated $368 million jackpot.
