Woman says ‘pimp’ wouldn’t let her see son unless she prostituted on South Beach, police say

Police: Wynston Fleming, 28, first met victim when she stripped at Texas club — she was just 17

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – A Texas woman who said her former “pimp” beat her and other women several years ago told police she thought he changed his ways — so when he invited her to come to Miami Beach with promises of an apartment for her son and help opening an online boutique, she agreed, according to police.

But Wynston Fleming, 28, instead lured the 26-year-old woman into more human trafficking, police said, leading to his arrest on three felony charges Wednesday.

According to an arrest report, Fleming, who resides in the Houston suburb of Stafford, first met the victim in 2014 when she was a stripping at a Houston club — at just 17 years old — and he offered to help her out of a “bad situation.”

Soon after, she was stripping and walking “the track” — street slang for prostitution, police said. Two weeks in, Fleming became upset with her and choked her and she decided to leave him, the report states.

Police said the woman went back to Fleming in 2017 and she ended things after he beat her again.

“(S)he knew that he had other women working for him and she saw him physically batter more than one of them,” police wrote.

The two, however, continued to communicate through social media, leading to the recent invitation to South Florida, police said. The woman said Fleming, who, with a promise of change, said he’d take care of and “elevate” her.

Instead, according to police, after the woman arrived in South Florida with her son, Fleming went to a house the woman was staying in and took her to a South Beach hotel.

Police said she was once again expected to “walk the track” and bring home at least $1,000 per day, which would all be turned over to him.

The woman would call 911 Wednesday morning to report that she was “trying to get out of a human trafficking situation” and that Fleming had brought her to Miami Beach “and refused to give her her 13-year-old son back until she made money,” the report states.

After Miami Beach police responded, the woman told officers that Fleming wouldn’t give her the address where her son was located despite asking multiple times, telling her “no b---- of mine is going to come in my house without bringing my money,” the report states.

Police said they reunited the victim with her son after responding to an Airbnb on Northwest 26th Street in Miami’s Allapattah neighborhood.

The woman would later tell detectives that after telling Fleming she no longer wanted to prostitute for him, he told her, “I’ve changed. I don’t hit my b----es anymore, but you are going to make me go back to my old ways.”

“According to the victim, (Fleming) has several residences in California, Nevada and different cities in Florida,” police wrote in the report. “She also advised that he has at least (eight) girls working for him. She also stated that he is known to carry a firearm and has been involved in several shootings, including one that he did prison time for.”

The woman said she was afraid of Fleming.

Fleming, who was arrested on charges of human trafficking, deriving support from the proceeds of prostitution and unlawful use of a communications device, was given a $22,500 bond, but remained in the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on a magistrate hold as of Thursday afternoon.
